Beacon created HHT to service the computer and technology needs of a growing segment of small businesses and consumers in  Hilton Head Island and Bluffton. As a small business itself, Beacon became increasingly frustrated by the lack of simple, low-cost solutions to fill the computer requirements of small business in the Low Country. With the limited availability of hardware choices and the lack of simple support solutions for small businesses and consumers locally, Beacon became progressively self-reliant in its efforts to provide itself and its clients with technology options not found in the area.
